Web design in Eugene, Oregon
I am in Albany, forty minutes up I-5. Close enough to show up, far enough that my overhead is not a downtown lease you end up paying for.
The money's going out the door where you never look.
A customer calls at 5:10. You're mid-job, hands full. It rings out to voicemail. They don't leave one. They just call the next name on the list.
Someone searches for exactly what you do. You're on page 5, where nobody scrolls. The click goes to the company with the bigger ad budget, not the better work.
And the lead that did get through? It's sitting in a voicemail you haven't heard yet, because you were too buried in quoting and paperwork to call back before they moved on.
Same problem every time: work that was yours, gone somewhere you never looked. That's what I fix.
Work I've built down this way
Builder's Electric is a Eugene client. Here is that build alongside other trade work from the valley.
Flat market, about 1,990 contractors
Lane County has about 1,800 fewer jobs than it did before the pandemic. The county economist calls the last two years recovery rather than growth.
Meanwhile 1,370 licensed contractors carry a Eugene address, and Springfield adds another 617. Call it about 1,990 across the metro, all working the same flat market.
When a market expands, thin marketing gets covered by the tide. When it holds flat, the work does not vanish, it redistributes. Somebody's phone rings more this year and somebody else's rings less, and the difference is usually who showed up when the customer looked.
That is the honest case for taking your site seriously here. Not growth. Share.
There is real work in the ground
Eugene issued 6,935 building permits in 2025. Affordable housing under construction this year is up 172 percent. The Clear Lake Industrial Area is 650 acres with state infrastructure money behind it.
Every one of those projects needs subs. Electrical, plumbing, concrete, roofing, finish work. General contractors building sub lists search differently from homeowners: licence and bond up front, galleries in the right category, proof you have handled this size before.
One in ten licences expires this quarter
194 of those licences lapse within 90 days, roughly one in ten. Some renew. Some do not, because the phone stopped ringing.
That is what a flat market looks like from the inside. It is also why the contractors who stay found are the ones who treated getting found as part of the job rather than something to sort out later.
Who gets the call, and who gets skipped
You are competing with firms that have been here since 1959. You will not out-reputation them and you should not try.
What you can do is show up where they do not bother. Nobody with a sixty-year name is fighting over "emergency electrician south Eugene" or "ADU contractor Eugene cost". Those searches belong to whoever writes the page, and usually nobody has.
What it costs to be invisible
Take a residential electrician doing $400,000 a year. Say four percent comes through the website today. That is $16,000.
Twelve percent is $48,000. Same crew, same trucks. The extra $32,000 is close to pure margin, because you are filling capacity you already pay for.
What I do for Eugene businesses.
Built for the trades.
Trades are where I've gone deepest. But a missed call is a missed call in any local business.
Questions from Eugene.
- Why hire someone in Albany?
- Forty minutes, and lower overhead than a Eugene firm. Same work for less, and the person doing it answers your email.
- Can I rank against firms that have been here for decades?
- Not for the biggest searches on day one. You can rank for the specific ones they ignore, and those convert better anyway.
- How long does it take?
- Months, not weeks. I will show you the numbers as they move.
